Acclaimed German pianist Jan Jiracek von Arnim leads Boston Conservatory’s fall 2020 Piano Masters Series lineup with four concerts celebrating Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday year. One of Europe's leading pianists and a Beethoven specialist, Jiracek von Arnim is the director of the International Beethoven Competition and a professor at Vienna's University for Music and Performing Arts. He will present lectures and perform four beloved Beethoven piano sonatas live from Vienna:

  • October 15: Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp Minor, op. 27, no. 2 ("Moonlight Sonata")
  • October 29: Piano Sonata No. 26 in E-flat Major, op. 81a ("Les Adieux")
  • November 12: Piano Sonata No. 11 in in B-flat Major, op. 22
  • December 3: Piano Sonata No. 16 in G Major, op. 31, no.1

Beethoven's birthday celebration concludes on December 16, when Boston Conservatory piano faculty member Aleksandr Polyakov will perform a concert including Liszt's transcription of the "Eroica" Symphony for solo piano.
