GEORGE GERSHWIN: An American in Paris

Richard Kelley, trumpet, has built a formidable track record as a versatile musician, working at the highest level of the profession. He is principal cornet of the Brass Band of Battle Creek and performs regularly with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Boston Philharmonic, and the Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms Society. Well-versed in many musical styles, Kelley also has collaborated with a wide range of artists, from John Williams and Yo-Yo Ma to Steven Tyler and Ray Charles.

Previously based in New York City, Kelley was principal trumpet of the Queens Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Virtuosi, and performed regularly with the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Pops, and many other orchestral ensembles. He also taught at the Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program for inner-city youth. Kelley joined the Boston Conservatory at Berklee faculty in 2022.
