What has been your favorite piece of student-led work at Boston Conservatory?

Since arriving at Boston Conservatory, I have come to find a profound love for student work. One of my favorite experiences on campus was being cast in a student-directed production of Bare: A Pop Opera in my freshman year. Starting my second semester strong, I was able to work along with my peers and build a community rooted in love for the story we were telling, as well as discover a personal passion for directing works and plays that were meaningful to me.

My director, Jalen Bunch, showed—from the very beginning of the process through table work—that they had a personal narrative they wanted the actors to portray through the text. The show run lasted an entire weekend. Our performance space, T401, was packed with students and staff who either came not knowing what to expect or underestimated our impact, but most left in tears. Since it was my first show as a college student, it also helped to reengage my love for musical theater, which is rooted in making an audience feel changed by the end of my storytelling.
