Jung-Ja Kim, piano, joined the Conservatory in 1972 and is a professor of piano. Kim has won critical acclaim in the United States, Europe, and Asia for her pianistic brilliance and insight. The New York Times called her debut “[b]rilliant playing, a vibrant, compelling performance,” and the Boston Globe has consistently praised her over the years, describing her playing as “arresting,” “a virtuosity of imagination,” and “musical advocacy of a high order.” Learn more about Kim.
Katie Lansdale, violin, is a professor of violin at the Conservatory. She has performed as a soloist and chamber artist throughout North America, South America, and Europe, and as part of numerous concert series, including those of the Phillips Collection, the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, and Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater. Shatin’s extensive catalog includes chamber, choral and orchestral music, and electronic, electroacoustic, and multimedia pieces. Her compositions are performed in concert halls and at festivals such as Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, the Kennedy Center, Aspen, BAM Next Wave, and Moscow Autumn.
