Jennifer Archibald, choreographer, is the founder and artistic director of the Arch Dance Company and program director of ArchCore40 Dance Intensives. In 2017, she was appointed as the first female resident choreographer in Cincinnati Ballet’s 40-year history. Her credits include Atlanta Ballet, Ailey II, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh Ballet, BalletX, Ballet Austin, NIKE, and MAC Cosmetics. Anthony Burrell, choreographer, hails from Philadelphia and joined the Conservatory as an associate professor of dance in 2022. He has made significant contributions to the arts, founding the Anthony Burrell Center for Dance in Atlanta, Georgia. With an M.F.A. in dance from Hollins University, he began his career as a creative director and choreographer, impacting Mariah Carey and Beyoncé’s projects. He is known for blending classical and commercial dance, choreographing for brands like Pepsi and DKNY, as well as artists like Rihanna and Destiny’s Child. Alissa Cardone, choreographer, joined the Conservatory in 2013 and is an associate professor of dance. Cardone specializes in collaborations bridging dance, film, technology, and fine art. Her company, Kinodance, was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to watch” (2008) and was presented nationally by Bank of America Celebrity Series, World Music/CRASHarts, Monaco Dance Forum, the Berkshire Fringe Festival, Summer Stages Dance Festival, and Boston Cyberarts Festival, and internationally in Russia and Armenia. Jarek Cemerek, choreographer, is an established dance artist working around the world, including DV8, Royal Opera House (London), the Juilliard School, Conservatoire de Paris, and New Zealand School of Dance. He holds many awards, including his work as a university professor. His extraordinary commitment to dance education, oriented towards international standards, was honored with a special acknowledgement by Bruckner University in Austria. Learn more about Cemerek.
Thang Dao (B.F.A. '01, dance), choreographer, resides in Los Angeles and New York City, where he works as a freelance choreographer, educator, and coach. He is a graduate of Hollins University (M.F.A. '21) and New York University (M.A. '09). Dao received his formal dance education from the Juilliard School and Boston Conservatory. He has choreographed for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Ballet Austin, Ballet Austin II, Ailey II, Ballet X, Philadanco, ballet22, Taiwan National University of the Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program, and Missouri Contemporary Ballet, as well as many universities and performing arts schools nationally and internationally.
Jun Kuribayashi, choreographer, has been an assistant professor of contemporary and commercial dance at Boston Conservatory since 2017. He made his professional dancing debut with MOMIX, later touring and becoming an artistic associate with Pilobolus dance theater. He has collaborated with luminaries like Penn & Teller and OKGo, and founded Hybridmotion, a dance theater and movement consulting company. His artistic endeavors span film, stage, and television. Lori Landay, artist collaborator, is an interdisciplinary media artist and professor of cultural studies and new media in the Liberal Arts and Sciences Department at Berklee College of Music. As a fellow at the Open Documentary Lab at MIT, her project “Moving Realities” connects motion and emotion in virtual and augmented reality. Leah Misano Abbott (B.F.A. '21, contemporary dance), choreographer, is a freelance dance and movement artist. Hailing from South Carolina, she has found a home in Boston since attending the Conservatory. Misano Abbott spent the 2022–2023 season performing with Whim W’Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, where she worked on several new creations. She joined the faculty at Boston Conservatory this past fall as an instructor of dance.
Ruka White, choreographer, is an assistant professor of dance at the Conservatory. He holds an M.F.A. in dance from Hollins University, and has danced professionally with renowned companies like Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Philadanco, Armitage Gone!, and Limon Dance Company. White has shared the stage with luminaries such as Maya Angelou, Shirley Murdock, and Missy Elliot.
